AM station deleted

Virginia, Minnesota: 1400kHz:
WEEP's renewal application has been denied.

Original FCC document

The station's license expired on April 1st, 2005. In June 2006, the FCC wrote the licensee to advise their license had expired & any operation of WEEP was unauthorized. The station responded with a Petition for Reconsideration and a renewal application.

However, in those documents they acknowledged the station has been off the air since November 2002, when the transmitter failed.

An Act of Congress requires the FCC to cancel the license of any station that remains off the air for more than a year.

An attempt had been made to sell WEEP to the City of Virginia - however, since no license exists to sell, I guess that deal is off...
