AM station major change denied

Bexley, Ohio: 1000kHz:
WSLW denied move from 1310kHz in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

The move would have cost White Sulphur Springs its only radio station. A permit for FM station WXMD (93.3) had once existed there, but the permit was allowed to expire unbuilt. The FCC does not generally allow the deletion of the only operating station in a community.

(ironically, there's nothing they can do if the owners of WSLW choose to simply surrender the station's license for cancellation... which is exactly what the owner of one AM station in Illinois has promised to do if he's not allowed to move his station...)

Yesterday, a FCC Public Notice indicated WSLW-1310 has been sold.
