If you've been following this blog for awhile, you've followed the on again, off again saga of 690 & 940 in Montreal.
- First, these two major stations went silent;
- Then, they surrendered their licenses for cancellation;
- Then, it was announced applications were filed for new stations to take their place;
- and, just a few days ago, that the applications had been removed from the agenda for the next CRTC hearing.
Well, now we know why... and it does not mean the new applications are dead. Rather, after reading interventions filed by third parties, the Commission felt they needed to solicit competing applications for new AM service in Montreal. Only the 690 and 940KHz frequencies are involved.
